2 Snow Bunting, Purp & Rock Pipit still with us keeping the photographers happy. Only thing different worth a mention is a brief view of a Water Rail - they have wintered here before but are very elusive.

This Robin has realised that whatever Purple Sandpipers & Rock Pipits feed on at the point must be worth a go as it has been amongst the rocks foraging in recent winters.

796 Cormorants went out to sea fishing and were late on parade presumably due to poor visability up the river detering them from leaving the roost. 2 Purps, 2 Snow Bunting & Rock Pipit at, or very near, the point. Today's migrant is a Skylark.

Wednesday 22nd January 2020

Living on the edge !

Misty, damp morning. 2 Snow Bunting on the strand line, Purp & Rock Pipit on the point.

A visit into Left Battery to survey hibernating lepidoptera produced 34 Peacock butterflies & 3 Herald moths.

Tuesday 21st January 2020

Good number of House Sparrows around this winter.

This blog is going to get about as exciting for you to read as it is for me to write but at this time of the year it can get a bit "same old, same old". Glorious morning with bright sunshine so nil effort put into looking offshore due to mist over the sea. 2 Snow Bunting & Rock Pipit by the point (although couldn't see any Purps I bet they haven't gone far).

Monday 20th January 2020

341 Cormorant went out fishing (although a large gang also went out well to the north of us). 2 Greylag Geese came out of the river and went north before coming back the same way a short while later. 2 Purps are on the point with 2 Snow Bunting nearby plus usual Stonechat present north of the Butts pond. 3 Mipit is notable as our only previous record this year is back on the 1st.
