758 Cormorant went out early on. Offshore southbound 18 Common Gull, 2 Brent & 2 Eider with northbound 3 Common Scoter, 2 Brent & Red-throated Diver plus 9 Common Scoter sat offshore. On site single Fieldfare, Snipe, Song Thrush plus the Rock Pipit on the point.
Friday 3rd January 2025
766 Cormorant went out fishing. Nothing moving offshore. Cold frosty morning brought 3 Skylark, single Fieldfare, Redwing & Song Thrush. Most of the locals were keeping tucked up under the bushes.

610 Cormorant went out fishing. 2 Pochard sat with 19 Common Scoter offshore flew off south. Other offshore movements negligible. Evidence of some "turdus" moving with 2 Fieldfare, Song Thrush & a new Blacky.

Wednesday 1st January 2025
Dull windy start to the year with rain from late morning onwards. 475 Cormorant went out fishing in the half light. A Merlin south just in front of the observatory was unexpected as we only have a handful of mid-winter records. Southbound 26 Brent, 21 Kitts & 2 Golden Plover with northbound 7 Common Scoter plus 5 Red-breasted Merganser went down river outwards.
Tuesday 31st December 2024
570 Cormorant went out fishing. Southbound 9 Brent, 6 Shelduck, 5 Wigeon, 2 Red-throated Diver, Great Crested Grebe, Marsh Harrier, Teal & Velvet Scoter with northbound 23 Common Scoter plus another 19 sat on the sea. 9 Kitts were with the gulls offshore & in the estuary. Usual Rock Pipit & Turnstone in the usual place. A new Blacky was unexpected as no cold weather to encourage any movement although some individuals are prone to wander in the winter for no apparent reason.

Monday 30th December 2024
No Fog - hoorah ! 550 Cormorant went out fishing early on. Southbound 6 Shelduck, 5 Brent, Knot & Velvet Scoter with northbound 2 Brent, Common Scoter & Red-throated Diver. 9 Common Scoter were sat offshore, a Golden Plover on the beach departed south, Fieldfare here briefly & a Cetti's burst into song when it saw some blue sky.
Sunday 29th December 2024
Still damp & misty with visibility better at times. A slightly increasing breeze should hopefully shift it - eventually. 254 Cormorant headed out fishing. Offshore (when it was visible) southbound 4 White-fronted Geese, 3 Wigeon, 2 Gadwal, 2 Shelduck, Curlew & Red-throated Diver with northbound 17 Red-throats. 19 Common Scoter sat offshore, Skylark heard overhead & the wintering Rock Pipit still present & accounted for.
