Hard work this morning. A Siskin going over was the first of the autumn proper. Also going south 3 Yellow Wags but very few hirundines. Next to no migrants in the bushes but 5 Wheatear on the reserve & a Great-spot dropped in briefly. Offshore also a bit deadly apart from 40 Knot & 37 Teal south. Still plenty of butterflies & just under a ton of Silver Y's in the traps is the best count of the year by a long way. Late news from yesterday is of no sign of the sparrow - but that doesn't mean that it won't get picked up coming into roost this evening.
