Black Redstart

Grey and chilly still with a cutting northerly breeze; unsurprisingly a quiet day in the field but there's always something to find at this time of year and birds included 5 Black Redstarts (including the singing bird still on the fort), a Blackcap, 4 Chaffinches, a Chiffchaff, a Meadow Pipit, 32 Sanderling on the beach first thing, a single Swallow, 4 Wheatear and most unusually, 2 Pink-footed Geese which flew out of the river and went north - only the third April record (43 records since 1995).

Ringing: Black Redstart 2, Blackcap 1, Linnet 1
