Grey-headed Wagtail thunbergi our star bird today paid us a visit from its breeding grounds in Northern Scandinavia or North West Siberia.
First Merlin this Autumn streaming along the beach Southwards just as the sun was getting up. Not too long after a Razorbill spotted heading South had chummed up with a couple Teal. One of the Yellow Wagtail today was of a more interesting flavour as we see much less Grey-headed Wagtail than we do for example Wryneck. Speaking of which is still present but being very elusive! Other migrants 8 Blackcap, 12 Chiffchaff, 2 Grey Wagtail, 2 Goldcrest, 1 Meadow Pipit, 1 Reed Warbler, 2 Shoveler, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Wheatear, 6 Willow Warbler and 4 Yellow Wagtail.
Feathered Brindle is a nationally scarce species found in areas of coastal shingle.
Ringing: 4 Blackcap, 3 Chiffchaff, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 4 Willow Warbler.
