A wet day with rain until 10am and then windy from 3pm and rain again later. Despite the weather there was a good fall of migrants; 110+ Wheatears (a day record count), 30+ Willow Warblers, 4 Ring Ouzels (3 females, 1 male), 3 Grasshopper Warblers, a Garden Warbler, 4 Sedge Warblers, 40+ Whitethroats, 10+ Blackcap, 10 Chiffchaffs, 2 Reed Warblers, a Garden Warbler, 3 Whinchats, a Grey Wagtail and a male Redstart. However the bird of the day was a male Subalpine Warbler found in the late afternoon and showed well to the gathering birders. Offshore movement involved 2 Fulmars south, 3 Whimbrels south, 9 Red-breasted Mergansers (6S,3N), 3 Common Terns north and 4 Sanderling north.
63 birds were ringed; 19 Wheatear (a new day record), 19 Willow Warblers, 7 Whitethroat, 6 Chiffchaff, 6 Blackcap, 2 Reed warbler and single Garden Warbler, Linnet, Ring Ouzel and Sedge Warbler.
